Penelope S. Buzzell, affectionately known as Penney, 73, of Plantsville, passed away peacefully at home following a lengthy illness on April 17, 2018. Born in Meriden on December 1, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Pauline (Bell) Gillis. Penelope graduated from Maloney High School and was a hard-working woman. She worked as a shipping clerk at AGC Inc., in S. Meriden before her retirement. One of her greatest joys in life was attending sporting events that her grandchildren were participating in. She is survived by her two sons and daughter-in-law Arthur (A.T.) Buzzell of Meriden and Adam and Terry (Cesario) Buzzell of Southington; a loving companion Tom Sala of Plantsville; two brothers and Bob Gillis and his wife Julie of New Hampshire, and Ray Gillis along with his longtime companion Liz Brandl of Meriden; sister-in-law Rose Gillis of Meriden; her only surviving aunt Harriet Bell of Wallingford; 6 grandchildren Christopher Orrell, Mathew Orrell, Jacob Buzzell, Adam Buzzell, Ashley Buzzell and Daniel Buzzell; 2 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She is predeceased by her parents, her sister Judith (Gillis) Hillgrove and her brother Joseph Gillis. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2018 from 5-7PM at Luddy-Peterson Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St., New Britain.
