June Ryan Obituary

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our cherished wife, mother, grandmother and friend June Martha Culver Ryan on March 22 2024. Born in 1938, she was raised in Berlin Ct. the youngest of nine children, on a small farm, among many animals particularly the young goats that she liked to play with. This led to a life long love of animals.

In raising her children she created an atmosphere of nurturing love, guidance and care at her home in Southington. In the past she was active in St. Dominic's parish helping to raise money to build a church. She came to embrace a healthy eating lifestyle that led to becoming a Weight Watcher's lecturer, touching the lives of hundreds and inspiring many towards healthy eating and self-improvement. She was a natural fit for this because of her honesty, integrity, her wonderful caring personality and her kind consideration for others. After Weight Watchers her focus shifted to help caring for her grandchildren, whom she loved with all her heart and were everything to her.

June loved tending to her flower garden inheriting her green thumb from her mother. She also liked spending time identifying birds in her yard and gazing out at the pond everyday. Depending on the season it would be duck's, geese and ice skaters. During the warm months June loved to be near the water. Whether it was the Cape, Maine or Connecticut shoreline or her own pool. And she spent many wonderful years at Thimbleberry swim club. June had a fun, vibrant personality that often led to singing and dancing in her kitchen. Imbued with a thirst for knowledge she learned how to use an IPad and loved messaging family and friends around the country. A dedicated home decorator she left every room in her home with her gifted seasonal touch.

She leaves behind her husband of 66 years John “Jack” Ryan Sr, son John Ryan Jr (Samar) daughters Allison Culver Melhus, Sharon Rachel Ryan, and Dale Noviasky(Mark). Granddaughters Lisabeth Menard, Chloe Wheeler Hegstad(Jon-Erik) and grandchildren Willow and Lane. She is also survived by her beloved brother, Paul Culver, and many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Howard and Emma Culver, her brothers Edwin, Harvey, and Howard Jr, and  her sisters Sylvia, Emma, Dorothy and Rachel.

We wish to thank Dr Anne Chiang and Dr Henry Park of the Smilow Cancer Center at Yale. And also to Dr Kevin Watson and and the staff at Hospital of Central Connecticut New Britain for their wonderful care. June will be remembered as a generous, warm-hearted woman who exuded a contagious zest for life and her legacy of love and kindness will forever live on in the hearts of those of us that knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Smilow Cancer Center at Yale P.O. box 1894 New Haven Ct 06508. A life remembrance celebration TBD.
