Bernadine E. (Macek) Grocki

BERNADINE E. (MACEK) GROCKI, 88, of Newington, Connecticut, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 18, 2019.  Bernie was born in Ryan Township, Pennsylvania on January 1, 1931. A graduate of Mahanoy City High School and Ford School Of Business Pottsville, Pennsylvania.  She worked at Olmsted Air Force Base and The Lehigh Coal and Navigation Company. After working for several years, she spent the rest of her life as a devoted wife, homemaker, mother and grandmother.

She was married to Leo J. Grocki for 47 years; mother to Andrew L. Grocki and his wife Kristine, Mary J. Prescott; grandmother to Kayla, Jeffrey, AJ, Megan; and great-grandmother to Dominic.  She was the sister-in-law to Beverly (Yutko) Macek, Chester Grocki and Richard Grocki. In addition to her parents, Stephen and Helen (Hmelar) Macek, Bernie was predeceased by her husband, sister, Stephanie Rzeplinski, her brother, Gary J. Macek and her sons; Larry Grocki, Geoffrey Grocki and John Grocki. 

A kind, caring, gentle person.  Bernie loved her family and friends. She will forever be missed and always be in our hearts. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at The Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain and Bel Air Manor in Newington.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at Church of the Holy Spirit 183 Church Street Newington, Connecticut, 06111 on Thursday April, 25th at 11:30 am. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, 1141 Stanley Street, New Britain.
