Florence Jeanette Zeh, loving wife of the late Richard H. Zeh of Chester, CT, devoted mother to four children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, passed peacefully at the age of 100, on Sunday morning, October 6, 2019.
Florence was born on August 27, 1919 in New Britain, CT to the late Rosa (LaFond) and Delphis Martineau. She graduated New Britain High School with the class of 1937 and subsequently studied at the Moody School of Business.
Entering the work force at a local bearing manufacturing plant during WWII, Florence "retired" to marry her life-long love and partner and raise their children on the family farm in Chester. (Ma, your home-made squash pie was the best!)
Florence Zeh is survived by her daughters, Jeanette and Virginia; and her sons Harold and Walter; and her brother Norman Martineau of Bristol, CT
In her youth, Florence sang with the choir at St. Joseph Church in New Britain, performing solos for weddings and funerals. In addition to singing, her pursuits included painting, fine art tempera being her passion, and music, with a talent for keyboards. Florence could be found playing her antique Hammond until well into her 100th year.
Florence will be remembered for the love and selfless dedication she showed us all. We love you, Ma.
Arrangement for Florence are being handled by the Luddy-Peterson Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St., New Britain. Burial will be held privately by the family.
