Helen (McNally) Stanton, 97, of New Britain, passed away peacefully at Jerome Home in New Britain on Tuesday, May 29, 2018. She was born on September 4, 1920, in Hartford to the late Edward and Helen (Downey) McNally.
In life Helen loved her family and friends. She also loved a good tag sale or flea market. She would always find some of the most interesting things. She usually kept her eyes open for a nice doll to add to her collection. If she wasn’t out at a tag sale, she could be found having coffee at McDonalds with some friends. She would spend free time knitting and crocheting, and she always made time to play Bingo. Helen belonged to the St. Paul’s Ladies Guild and was a secretary for the AARP in Berlin. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a secretary for the Law Office of Attorney Theodore Poulos.
Helen is predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, John M. Stanton; three brothers, Thomas McNally, James McNally, and Edward McNally; and a sister Elizabeth (McNally) Souney. She leaves behind her sons John F. Stanton and his wife Karen, of Kensington, CT, and Michael J. Stanton and his wife Barbara, of Sun City West, AZ. She also leaves behind a grandson Sean Stanton, and her great-grandchildren Grayson and Ivy Erin Stanton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, Friday, June 1,2018 at 11:30AM, at St. Paul Church, 461 Alling St. Kensington, CT, followed by internment at St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain, CT.
