Kathleen E (Grady) LeMay

Kathleen “Katie” Elizabeth Grady LeMay, 82, of New Britain, CT passed away peacefully on her birthday, January 8th, 2018.  Kathleen was born in New Britain, CT to Catherine (Burns) Grady and Thomas Grady.  She was born and raised on Sexton St., New Britain, CT and lived all of her life in New Britain.  She devoted her life to her family.  Kathleen attended New Britain Schools.  She worked at Bell Telephone prior to starting her family.  She later worked at Central Connecticut State University and New Britain General Hospital in dietary.  Kathleen was a Cub Scout Leader for her sons and volunteered for Helping Hands to keep the neighborhood children safe.  Kathleen enjoyed playing cards with her mother, aunts, and her four sisters on a weekly basis for over 60 years.  She also enjoyed bowling and was an avid UCONN Basketball fan.  Kathleen grew up as a Yankees Baseball fan and later in life became a Boston Red Sox fan.  Katie also loved to travel, especially to Ireland, the birthplace of her father.  Her favorite pastimes for relaxation included reading, crossword puzzles and taking a long bath after tucking all of her children in for the night.  Kathleen us predeceased by her husband, Donald L. LeMay, her daughter Diane LeMay, and seven brothers, Thomas, Edward, William, Donald, Jack, James and Robert Grady.  Kathleen leaves behind her children Debra, Donald and wife Nayda, David, JoAnne Cunningham and husband Glenn, Victor and wife Darlene, Michael Sr., Theresa and Julie Charette and husband Tom.  She leaves behind her beloved 17 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.  Kathleen is survived by a brother Richard and her four sisters Marie Klepacki, Patricia Weber, Eileen Myska, Jane Gorcyca, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  A celebration of Kathleen’s life will be held on Saturday, January 13th, 2018 at 10 AM at Holy Apostles Catholic Church (formerly St. John the Evangelist) 655 East St., New Britain.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Live Well/ Alzheimer’s Resource Center, 1261 South Main St., Plantsville, CT 06479.
