Keld Helge Rasmussen, 67 of Moosup, Connecticut, passed away on November 24, 2019. Keld was born to Ida Rasmussen and Svend Rasmussen in Amager, Denmark. Keld is survived by his daughters Monica and husband Warren Baker of Charlotte, North Carolina, Christina and husband Tom Flaschen of Brooklyn, New York, and stepdaughters Nicole and husband Juan Villalobos, and Ashley Griffith and Luke Chreiman of Hebron, Connecticut. Keld is also survived by his sisters, Rita Sonne husband Erik and Helle Stroem husband Michael. Keld also leaves behind his nieces Eva Sonne and Emilie Stroem and nephews Nikolaj Sonne and Victor Stroem, as well as his mother Ida Rasmussen.
Growing up Keld loved to fish, fix up cars, invent things and spend time with his family. He even attached an engine on a skateboard. Keld is also a veteran of the Royal Danish Army, he was a mechanic and received the rank of Sergeant. He loved to reminisce and tell those around him about his time as a soldier, exercises conducted with other countries military and the guns he was able to shoot. Keld came to the United States in 1976, where he met his first wife Gail, they built a life together and had 2 beautiful daughters. He loved adventures and even received his pilot’s license.
On Thanksgiving, November 25, 2010 Keld married his best friend and soul mate Kathleen Rasmussen surrounded by family and friends. Together Kathy and Keld shared their love of traveling and camping. When they retired, they created a blog to document their traveling adventures in the RV they affectionately named “Fred.” They loved to see the world together and had amazing experiences in places including Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Belgium, Holland, France, Austria, Italy, Spain and Costa Rica. They spent the warmer weather with friends and family and during the winter months they spent their time traveling throughout the southern U.S., making memories and living life to the fullest.
