Lorraine N. Santomero, 80, of Touchpoints at Farmington, Farmington, CT (formerly of South Meriden, CT), the wife of the late Daniel R. Santomero, loving mother and Mimi, passed away surrounded by the love of family and friends at Touchpoints at Farmington on January 10, 2020.
Lorraine was born on July 26, 1939 in Wallingford, daughter of the late John Lenart, Deborah Carey and step-father John Carey. She attended Lyman Hall High School and retired from Corometrics Medical Systems.
Lorraine loved her trips with her husband and family to Charlestown, RI and to Hilton Head Island, SC, where her son Danny lived for many years. She also took some fun trips with her sisters Jaye and Diane, the three of them affectionately known as the “hoot sisters,” to Jamestown, RI and to York Beach, ME, and to visit her brother David and sister in law Flo in Bethel, VT. She also took a special trip to Disney with her grandchildren when they were small. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She loved when her cardinals appeared, or her first robin sighting, a sure sign of spring. She loved phone calls from her daughter Dina and they talked just about every day; they were best friends. They took many shopping trips. She loved to read, enjoyed her word searches, and hated the puzzles that her son bought for her to assemble. Oh how he did make her laugh though. She absolutely adored her grandchildren, Ryan and Madison, and they in turn adored their Mimi. When she was well she attended their many sporting events and school functions. She loved taking walks around the neighborhood with her friends Jean and Helen and had long time visits from her friend Rita. She had many neighbors who she called friends on Diamond Hill. She was also blessed with long time friends Pam, Barney, Jackie, Mike, Dawn and Turk, with whom she shared many laughs and memories. Lorraine was a very kind person, affectionately called “my sweet sister Lorraine” by her sister Janice. She loved her golden retriever Aspen. Family was everything. Lorraine also leaves behind a special friend Robert Baker who she met at Touchpoints. Her family will forever be grateful for the bond they shared. Her sister Janice and her niece Traci, who she adored, provided her with love, care, laughs and companionship. Thank you Carol, Donna, Katie, Neil, Camielle, Jackie and Pam for visiting mom and providing love and companionship. Lorraine’s goodness, her smile and her selflessness will be remembered always.
Lorraine is survived by her son Daniel D. Santomero of South Meriden; her daughter Dina Prendergast and her husband Todd of Southington; her beloved grandchildren Ryan and Madison Prendergast; her sister Janice Yale and several nieces and nephews. Lorraine was predeceased by her sister Diane DuBord and her husband Donald, her brother in law Tom Yale, and her brother David Lenart.
The family is deeply appreciative of the compassionate care given by Touchpoints at Farmington and by Hartford Healthcare Hospice. Many thanks to John, Judy, Dan, Kelly, Christina, Bridget, Latasha, Heather, Rose, Rebecca, Shannon, Regina, Deja, Ruth, Barbara, Monica, Linda, Stephanie, Dominic, Rob, Steve, Dan, Diane, Kristen, Courtney, Brian and many others for caring for our mother.
