Marjorie Ann (Claffey) DeConti, 84, of New Britain, passed away Monday, July 30, 2018 with her family by her side. Born and raised in New Britain to the late Patrick and Marguerite (Hogan) Claffey in 1934. Marjorie and her husband, Philip DeConti, celebrated 66 very loving years of marriage in June and raised seven wonderful children together.
In life, Marjorie was a very devout Catholic and she loved her Lord, Jesus. She also loved her family and the many get togethers they shared for holidays, vacations, or just to enjoy each other’s company. In the early years, she would have her children and their growing families over every Saturday for pasta dinners. She enjoyed living at Knollwood Beach in Old Saybrook for a time, but particularly loved her frequent trips to Cape Cod. She cherished her friendships and the times she had in her old Wood Road neighborhood. She had a lot of good memories in that neighborhood, and even still got together occasionally for coffee with the moms from PTO. Her home was warmed with love for all things “country”. She was very proud of her Irish heritage and true to her heritage, she always had a witty way with words. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her beautiful spirit.
Marjorie is predeceased by one daughter, Martha; her parents, and her siblings. She is survived by her husband Philip DeConti, Sr.; her sons, Philip Jr. and his wife Tamera DeConti of Madeira Beach, FL; Christopher and his wife Phyllis DeConti of Southington, CT; Patrick DeConti and significant other Eva Orlinski of South Windsor, CT; Matthew DeConti of Kensington, CT; and son-in-law Tim Brooks of Hebron, CT; her daughters, Pam Dorn and her husband Robert of Prospect, CT, and Amy Tupper and her husband David of Sarasota, FL; She treasured her 15 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and one on the way; many nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins, and wonderful friends.
