Richard P. Santi, 87, of Storrs, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 13, 2018. Richard was born on July 1, 1931 in New Britain, to the late Clito and Catherine (Squilacote) Santi. He graduated from New Britain High School in 1949.
Richard worked as a carpenter for Clito Santi & Sons for over 25 years. He also worked as a title searcher for a law firm for several years. Richard loved his family, friends and music.
Richard's love for music began when he was in the fourth grade and continued throughout his life. The Dick Santi Orchestra was formed in year 2000 and he performed in towns throughout the state. Richard has done solo work on piano and voice in many restaurants and venues throughout New England.
Richard leaves behind his loving wife of 66 years, Victoria (Ramus) Santi. He also leaves behind his five children, Patricia Santi and her husband Aram Aslainian of Maine, Paul Santi of Bristol, Gary and Shirley Santi of Middletown, Marie Santi of Woodstock, and Roger and Maria Santi of Middletown; his nine grandchildren, Kelsey and Christian Webb, Corrine, Ryan, Garrett Santi, Erik Olson, Jeffery and Alexander Santi, and Sergina Petit-Homme. He also leaves behind a sister Eleanor Stewart and her sons, Mark and Douglas Stewart; a sister in law Yvonne Paradis, her husband Robert, her children Deborah Bouchard and Mark Paradis; a brother in law John and his wife Rita Ramus; and many other nieces and nephews and several cousins. Richard is predeceased by his brother Robert Santi and his wife Luisa.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 11 AM at St. Joseph Church, 195 S. Main St., New Britain, interment to follow at St. Mary Cemetery, 1141 Stanly St., New Britain. Family and friends are invited to call at the Luddy-Peterson Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St., New Britain, CT from 9-10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Mansfield Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation, 100 Warren Circle, Storrs, CT 06268.
