Veronica (Kaplan) Wassil, 95, of Berlin, beloved wife to Anthony J. Wassil, Sr. of 73 years, passed away peacefully on Monday April 23rd. She was the daughter of the late John and Bertha (Piskor) Kaplan and resided in Suffield, CT until her marriage in September 23, 1944.
Besides her husband Anthony, she leaves to mourn her loss, her daughters Veronica and her husband Daniel A. Sullivan of Berlin, CT, and Laurie Margentino of Berlin, CT. She also leaves behind her sister Bertha Sojkowski, of Enfield, CT and her brother Raymond and his wife Cynthia Kaplan, of Enfield, CT.
Veronica was predeceased by her son, Anthony Wassil, Jr., and her son-in-law, Robert Margentino. She was also predeceased by her sister, Agnes Lewis and her brothers, Stephen, Stanley, Frederick, John, Mitchell, Bruno and Edward Kaplan.
Veronica also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Carrie Sullivan, Julie Sullivan Hunt, Brett and Liah Margentino and Rebecca Wassil, all of Berlin, CT and her greatgrandchildren, Ryan Hunt, Sean Hunt, Anna Hunt and Liliana Bobbie Margentino.
She was a long-time member of Sacred Heart Church in East Berlin, CT and their Rosary Guild. She was also a member of the 169th Ladies Auxiliary.
Friends and family may call at the Luddy-Peterson Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St., New Britain on Thursday, April 26, from 8:30-11 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30AM at Sacred Heart Church located at 48 Cottage St, East Berlin, CT, and Burial will follow at Maple Cemetery, 1164 Worthington Ridge, Berlin, CT. In lieu of flowers, please make charitable donations to the food pantry at St. Joseph’s Parish in New Britain, in Veronica’s name
