William Bezemek Obituary

William "Bill" "Ozzie" Robert Bezemek, 70, of Torrington, passed away on Thursday, March 28th, at the VA Hospital in West Haven, CT from complications with Agent Orange-related cancer. Bill was born on September 16, 1948 in Wisconsin to the late Goldie Pastor Hubbard and the late Peter Bezemek.

Bill is survived by his wife Wendy Lee Perkins Bezemek of 38 years; his son William H. Bezemek and his wife Kimberly; his sisters Gloria Bilodeau, Terry Massicotte and her husband John, Jane Serafini and her husband Jim; his grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and his dog Karmen Miranda. In addition to his parents, Bill is predeceased by two brothers, Tommy and David "Buzzard" Bezemek, a brother-in-law Raymond Bilodeau, and his stepfather, Lester Hubbard.

He attended local schools and was a member of the Slovak Catholic Sokol Club. Bill worked for the Torrington Company and at TemKin. Bill enjoyed fishing, playing cards, Keno and going to the casino. He enjoyed going to his grandchildrens' sports events and spending his weekends on Rocky Top.

Bill served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in Germany and Vietnam. Bill was a Specialist Four and received an award for being a sharp shooter. Bill was honorably discharged on June 6, 1969.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1pm on Saturday, April 13th at the Slovak Catholic Sokol Club, 171 Franklin Street, Torrington, CT. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Veteran Affairs Hospital, Attention Volunteer, 950 Campbell Ave., West Haven, CT 06516. Checks can be made out to "Donations to VA CT Hospice."
