Alice Kinsley Clark

Alice Kinsley Clark, 99, of Hamden, CT, wife of the late David William Clark Jr. passed away peacefully on March 19, 2022, at Connecticut Hospice in Branford two weeks before her 100th birthday. Alice was born April 2, 1922, in New Haven, CT, the daughter of the late Harry Walter and Alice Isbell Kinsley.

Earning a bachelor’s and master’s from UCONN she was an educator for life, teaching home economics in the Hamden Public Schools for forty years and an active member and leader of her professional local, national and international organizations. She lived a long life full of learning, teaching and world travel.

Remembered as “GG,” Grandma, Great Aunt Alice, Aunt Alice, mother, mom or just Alice, we will remember her in the things she taught us and the time we spent with her comforted by memories of learning, love and laughter. Always warm and friendly, simple and elegant.

She is survived by daughters Carol Clark Edmo (Portland, OR); Elizabeth Kinsley Clark (Hamden, CT); sons David William Clark III (Fletcher, VT); and Walter Kinsley Clark (Surprise, AZ); four grandchildren Tara Clark O’Gorman (Port Orange, FL); Seahdom Edmo (Portland, OR); Anne Clark Baker (Washington, DC); and John Edmo (Portland, OR); six beloved great grandchildren, fourteen nieces and nephews and twenty-one great nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to The Connecticut HOSPICE, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405 or a charity of choice. On July 22, 2022, a morning service celebrating her life will be in New Haven at Evergreen Cemetery, with family and friends gathering for a reception following the service at St. Thomas’s Episcopal Church.
