It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Anita W. Furrow, age 76, of Plantsville, CT. Anita left us peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on November 23, 2024, at The Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain campus. She was born on May 2, 1948, in Island Falls, Maine, the daughter of the late Albert and Joan Wellington.
Anita lived a life full of love and the thrill of the game. She was passionate about the casino and an avid bingo player, always hopeful for the next winning number. But more than anything, she cherished the time spent with her family and friends around the card table. Whether playing Setback, sharing stories, or simply enjoying each other’s company, these were some of her favorite ways to spend her time. Her family and friends were always at the heart of everything she did. Her door was always open, and love and laughter always filled the air.
Anita was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 60 years, Norman E. Furrow; her daughter, Michelle Furrow; her son, Albert Furrow, and his wife, Kaleena; and her son, Douglas Brown.
Anita’s cherished grandchildren include Breanna Riollano and her husband, Neil Daigle; Brandon Riollano and his fiancée, Amy Powers; and Cutter and Raya Furrow.
She is also survived by her dear siblings; sisters, Aline Standish and Beverly Hoyt and her husband, Al; her brother, Stephen Wellington and his partner, Sharon Egan; and her nephews, Matthew, Kyle, Brian, Joey, and Jay. And her dearest friends; Mona and Rene.
She was predeceased by her brother, Albert Wellington Jr., and her granddaughter, Nikoll Riollano.
The family is forever grateful to Jen, Tia, Cassie, and the rest of the nursing staff in the Emergency Department at the HOC, Bradley Campus, who fondly called her “Grandma.” Your kindness, compassion, and patience meant the world to us, and we will never forget your gentle presence.
Special thanks to the nursing staff at HOCC New Britain Campus, especially Edwin, who cared for her in her final days; the hospice nurses, social workers, and Chaplain Sean. They treated her with dignity and respect, ensuring a peaceful transition while providing unwavering support to the family. We are so incredibly grateful for your kindness during this time, thank you.
Though no longer with us in body, Anita's memory will live forever in the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her. Rest easy, Anita. You are loved beyond measure, and you will be missed more than words can express.
A private remembrance and celebration of Anita’s life will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, a cause that they hold dear to their hearts.
