Antonio Bergeron, Jr. Obituary

Antonio “Tony” Arthur Bergeron Jr. passed away on July 20, 2019 surrounded by family. Tony as he was known to his many friends and family was the son of Antonio A. Bergeron and Violet L. Moran of Willimantic. He was born in Willimantic, Connecticut on November 16, 1938 and was a life-long native of the Willimantic area. He spent his career at Connecticut Light & Power as a chief mechanic in East Hampton. He proudly served in the United States Air Force between 1956 and 1960 at Offutt Airforce Base in Omaha, Nebraska, achieving the rank Airman First Class. Tony was an active member of the Elks Club Lodge 1311, the Windham Club, and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 457. Tony was an avid golfer, fisherman, gardener, and woodworker, instilling his passion for the outdoors and craftsmanship within his children and grandchildren. Tony loved UConn basketball, the Boston Red Sox, the New York Giants, the Boston Celtics, the Boston Bruins, and professional golf. He was a dedicated fan of his grandsons’ hockey and fishing careers.
Above all else, Tony was a kind, patient, and loving man. He abundantly shared his love, affection, wisdom, and humor with family and friends.
He is predeceased by his son, Steven Anthony Bergeron, and by his brother, Richard John Bergeron. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Socorro Maria Ruiz de Bergeron; his children, Toni G. Bergeron-Spinner and her husband Grant, Barbara A. Bergeron and her wife Dorothy DiLernia, and John M. Bergeron and his wife Karen; his grandchildren Branden Bergeron and his wife Ashley, and Ryan Bergeron and his wife Laura; his great-grandchildren Hunter, Logan, and Erin; his sister-in-law, Josie A. Bergeron; and his cousin Barbara Bergeron-Sayers; as well as his numerous extended family and countless friends.
Donations can be made to Saint Joseph’s Church in Willimantic in his honor. Services will be at 10am on Saturday, July 27th at Saint Joseph’s Church on 99 Jackson St., Willimantic. Burial will follow at Saint Joseph Cemetery on 134 Club Rd., Willimantic.
