Antonio Marques de Loureiro Jr., 66, of Bristol, beloved husband of Jayne de Loureiro, died Tuesday, August 3, 2021. Born in Portugal, he lived in Connecticut and Florida until his passing peacefully at home after battling brain cancer for over a year.
Antonio was affectionately known as "Papa Tony" to Jayne’s grandchildren and family and loved spending time with them. Tony was recently retired from the State of Connecticut and worked many years at UConn Health, Konover Corporation, and Aetna Insurance. He was also a proud Army veteran of the CT National Guard. He loved holding babies and playing with kids. He was an avid soccer fan, passionate soccer coach and referee for many years. He enjoyed telling stories, playing dominoes with family and friends, and driving on family road trips. Tony spent time working on cars, gardening, working on home projects and enjoyed spending time in Cocoa Beach, FL.
He is survived by three children: Brian A. de Loureiro of Raleigh, NC, Mark M. de Loureiro of Vernon, CT, and Lauren M. Frenette of Prospect, CT and their spouses as well as four grandsons, Samuel, Benjamin, Nicholas, and Trevor.
He is predeceased by a brother; Abel de Loureiro and survived by a brother, Joao de Loureiro and three sisters; Maria Izilda de Loureiro, Maria Amelia de Loureiro and Ludovina Beatriz de Loureiro.
A private ceremony will be held.
