Barbara Jean (Fernandez) McLean

Barbara Jean McLean, age 70, wife of Gene (Rusty) A. McLean, Jr., left this
world on Thursday, December 4, 2025.

Barbara was born in Meriden, CT on March 28, 1955, the first daughter of
Adolph and Theresa D. Fernandez. Barbara attended Mercy High School
and worked for many years at Aetna Insurance Company. She took pride in
her work and established bonds with co-workers that have lasted a lifetime.
She lived her life with grace, friendship, and was full of love for her family
and friends – especially for her sister Donna, son Jeffrey, and her in-laws.

Barbara enjoyed square and round dancing throughout New England. She
found joy in beachcombing - looking for beautiful sea glass and other
artifacts, and searching for small treasures at antique stores, auctions, estate
sales and flea markets. Her greatest challenge was her diagnosis with
Parkinson’s Disease – a battle she fought with bravery and determination
with the help of Chase Family Movements Disorder Center.

Besides her husband of 20 years, Rusty, she is survived by her sister, Donna
Sgro and her husband, Joe; her son Jeffrey Oblon; Stepchildren Alexander
McLean and his fiancée Deidra; Teresa McLean and her fiancée Matt; Erin
McLean and her husband Mike; In-laws Gene McLean, Sr.; Sharon McLean
LaMontagne and her wife, Renée; Clinton McLean, and his wife Nancy;
Lauren and Cole Hilscher; Kristen and Neeraj Madivala. She is also
survived by her close friends, Sharon Denison, Valerie Laliberte, Dan
Anselmo, Ed Curran, as well as other family members and friends who will
miss her dearly.

All services are private and at the convenience of the family. The Luddy &
Peterson’s Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
