Beatrice Griswold Obituary

Beatrice Laura (Laperle) Griswold, 89, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and cousin, passed away on Monday, March 20th, 2023, at The Pines of Bristol.
Beatrice was born on December 18th, 1933, in Walden, Vermont to the late Philippe and Irene (Fournier) Laperle.  She lived there with her family and attended a one room school.  In 1942, her parents purchased a farm in Randolph Center, Vermont.  Bea graduated from Randolph High School in the Class of 1951.
Bea married Lawrence “Tink” Camp, and they owned a successful Registered Holstein farm, known as “Campstead Farm” in North Randolph, VT.  They always had a large garden to feed their growing family.  Bea would freeze the vegetables, make pickles, can tomatoes, make applesauce to freeze and froze berries for pies and desserts.  Everything Bea made was homecooked and meals were not complete without a homemade pie, cake, cookies or other dessert. She was a hard worker and loved to cook.
Over the years, while bringing up her children, Bea was active in the local 4-H Club as a leader for cooking; a member of the local Grange; PTA and all school activities with her children.  Bea was involved in the Sports Boosters Club and the American Field Service.  She was very active in the Vermont Extension Homemakers Club, having served as a State Treasurer and in Orange County served as Vice-President and President.  Bea also served as a director for 8 years in the Central Vermont Holstein Club; was the Secretary-Treasurer for Windsor County Feed Association and was a member of the Booth Brothers Milk Promotional Committee.
As a teenager, Bea worked doing household chores for her neighbors, Dr. and Mrs. Bloom.  The Blooms convinced their friends from Chicago, IL to purchase the property right up the road from their summer home.  Drs. Franklin and Helen McLean purchased a summer home and became residents of Randolph Center. Bea went to work for them after she was married. The McLeans had many out-of-town guests visit them, along with many dinner parties. Bea planned the meals with the McLeans, cooked the meals and made sure the household ran smoothly for the McLeans and their guests. Working for the McLeans helped to define Bea’s great cooking!
In 1970-1978, Beatrice worked for Randolph National Bank as a teller. She then she worked for Northfield Savings Bank until 1983 as head teller.  In 1988, she went to work for the U.S. Postal Service and became Postmaster in 1994 in East Randolph, VT.
In 1996, Bea moved to Keene, NH near her daughter, Jane, and lived at the Wright Estates.  She was transferred to the New Hampshire Postal Service and worked in the Marlow and West Chesterfield, NH offices and retired in 2000.  Bea decided retirement was not for her and then went to work at TD Bank for the next 5 years.  She met her 2nd husband, Alfred Griswold in 2001 and they married in October of 2002.  Bea also worked at Ocean Bank and retired in 2008.
Bea was a member of The Keene Elks Emblem Club, Keene Women’s Club, The Red Hat Society, Catholic Daughters and St. Margaret Mary’s Catholic Church.  Bea volunteered at the Cheshire Medical Center’s Gift Shop for 6 years. In 2016, Bea moved to Farmington, CT near her daughter Carol.
Bea’s hobbies included reading, cooking, entertaining and doing kind deeds for her family, friends and neighbors.  She enjoyed having her children and grandchildren visit and to cook their favorites for them.
She was predeceased by her parents, Philippe and Irene and her siblings, Joanne, Fernand, Leonard, Raymond, Vivian, Pauline and John.  She was also predeceased by her husband, Alfred Griswold of Keene, New Hampshire.
Beatrice is survived by her five children, twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.  Children include Cynthia (Camp) & Stephen Richardson of Randolph Center, VT; Dorrene Camp-Karlsson of Enkoping, Sweden; Jane (Camp) Graves of Hudson, NH; Carol (Camp) Normandin of Southington, CT and Barry Camp of Hallowell, ME.  Grandchildren and great-grandchildren include Chelsea & Hugo Sanchez & children of Smyrna, TN; Andrew & Megan Richardson & children of Chesterfield, NH; Helen Karlsson & Jimmy Lovgren & children of Sweden; Daniel Karlsson & Jennica Klaman & children of Sweden; Meghan & Nick Bouchard & sons of Hudson, NH; Elizabeth & Christopher Wright of Medfield, MA; Matthew & Elizabeth Normandin & son of Southington, CT; Bridgette Normandin of Quechee, VT; Daniel Normandin of Middletown, CT; Shayna Camp & Matthew Judd, fiancé of Alexandria, VA; Ashton Camp of Martinsville, VA and Bryson Camp of Hallowell, ME.
