Claire Mary Chiffer

Claire Mary Chiffer, 90, of Old Saybrook, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2018, with her family by her side. She was born in New Britain, to the late Victor and Mary (Koziol) Stepensky.

Besides her Husband, Edward Chiffer, Sr., Claire is predeceased by her brother Edward Stepensky, her sister Helen Kawecki, and her son John Chiffer.

She leaves behind two brothers, Victor Stepensky and John Stepensky; sister Mary Ann Bernardi; her sons, Edward Chiffer, Jr. and his spouse Julie, Brian Chiffer and his spouse Dale, James Chiffer and his spouse Deborah, Mark and his spouse Rachel; her grandchildren, Nicole, Kelly, James, Jr., Rebecca, Molly, Katherine, Elizabeth, Margaret, and Edward, III; and many nieces, nephew’s greatgrandchildren and extended family.

Claire loved to cook. She always had Sunday dinner with her family, and for Christmas her door was open to everyone. She loved her loved her family more than anything, she always said, “The labor of love…if you love what you’re doing, you’ll never work a day in your life.” Between family time, she enjoyed to read and to volunteer at local nursing homes.
