David Michael Soldi Obituary

David Michael Soldi, 60, of Vernon, Connecticut, passed away on July 12, 2026, after a
courageous battle with a rare and aggressive cancer. He was the beloved son of Edward F. Soldi
and the late Geraldine (McQuoid) Soldi.

After serving in the U.S. Navy, David followed in his father's footsteps by entering the printing
industry ending his career with Quad Graphics in East Longmeadow, Massachusetts.

In his younger years, David had a passion for motorcycles and loved riding his Harley. Some of
his happiest moments were spent taking his daughter, April, for rides creating memories and a
special bond that she will cherish forever.

David was an avid sports fan with an unmatched enthusiasm for the games he loved. It wasn't
unusual to find him watching four games at once on a single television. He was a devoted fan of
the Boston Red Sox, the New England Patriots, and the Carolina Hurricanes, and he was thrilled
to see the Hurricanes capture the Stanley Cup this past June.

If there was one thing David enjoyed almost as much as sports, it was the weather. His daughter
joked that he knew more than the meteorologists and often turned to him for the latest forecast.
Whether tracking approaching storms or predicting the next sunny day, David was usually right.

Known for his knack for finding a bargain, David earned the affectionate nickname "Discount
Dave" from his family and close friends. More than his love of sports or great deals, however, he
will be remembered for his kind heart, bright smile, infectious laugh, and the joy he found in
spending time with those he loved.

In addition to his father, David leaves behind his pride and joy, his daughter, April Soldi and her
partner Chris Majdan of Vernon; his cherished granddaughter, Jade Majdan, whom he loved
visiting and spending time with; and his beloved granddog, Chewie, with whom he proudly
shared "custody" making sure there was never a shortage of walks, treats, or love. He is also
survived by his siblings: Debra Soldi of Sturbridge, Massachusetts; Maureen Gonelli of West
Boylston, Massachusetts; Edward F. Soldi Jr. and his wife, Karol, of Hobe Sound, Florida; Carol
Soldi-Hall and her husband, Bryant Hall, of Wesley Chapel, Florida; and Darlene Soldi of
Vernon, Connecticut, with whom he shared such a close bond that often-led people to mistake
them for a married couple because they did so much together. He also leaves behind many nieces
and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

David was predeceased by his mother, Geraldine (McQuoid) Soldi, and his brother-in-law,
Dominic Gonelli.

While David's family was large, he had an even bigger one at American Legion Post 14 in
Vernon. He was genuinely loved by everyone who knew him, and it would be difficult to find
anyone with an unkind word to say about him. His warmth, kindness, quick wit, and
unmistakable laugh left a lasting impression on all whose lives he touched. He will be deeply
missed but lovingly remembered by everyone fortunate enough to know him.

In accordance with David's wishes, there will be no funeral service. A celebration of his life will
be held at a later date.
