We are saddened to announce the passing of Deborah (Debby) Donovan Lynch on Sept 13, 2021 after a brief illness. Her family was at her side.
Born in New Britain to the late John Russell and Frances (Maloney) Donovan, she was a lifelong resident of New Britain, graduating from New Britain High School in 1972.
She worked for the State of Connecticut in her early career then, as was her nature to be caring, loving and compassionate, she took on many roles. She was "mom" to all the kids at Holmes School in New Britain serving as lunch lady (Mrs. Lunch) when her children were growing up. She was a dedicated caretaker for her mother who lived with her in her later years and then, still in her nurturing ways worked as a teacher at the Stork Club in Rocky Hill where she cared for her kids as if they were her own until her retirement.
We will miss her fun personality. Always laughing if you were in her presence, she had a quick wit. She would burst into song whenever the mood struck bringing levity to any situation. She was fun! Gatherings will not be the same without her famous chocolate chip cookies and ham and pickle sandwiches. One of her favorite things to do was take rides in Connecticut with her son and best friend, Jerry. She also enjoyed musical theater.
She leaves many whose lives and hearts will be left with a big hole including her husband Thomas (Tom) Lynch, two sons, Thomas (Tommy) and his partner Jessica (Jess) Poland and Gerald (Jerry), along with grandchildren Kennedy (Kendy) and James (J. T.). She will join her first grandchild, Tatum, in heaven.
She also leaves her twin sister Theresa (Terry) Wells and husband Dave. She will join her other sister Catherine (Cathy) Gallo in heaven as well. She leaves sisters- and brothers- in- law, many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Special cousins include Lauren McBrien and Kathleen Miller Cook.
Calling hours and service will take place on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Luddy-Peterson Funeral Home, 205 S. Main Street, New Britain, CT. 06051, from 10 am to 12 noon. Interment will be at a later date.
