Diane Marie Tierney passed away peacefully on April 18 th , 2026 after a short battle with cancer, surrounded
by her family and friends. Born in Michigan, and raised in Wallingford, CT, she was the daughter of Michael
“Mickey” and Marilyn Terribile. She leaves behind four sons, Dennis (Adrienne) Adams, Louis Adams,
Jeffrey (Nick D’Agostino) Tierney and Patrick (McKenzie) Tierney; two grandchildren, Amanda and Alexa;
four siblings, Denise Richard, Michael Terribile, Melanie (Rick) Baribault, John Terribile and predeceased by
Christopher Terribile; many nieces and nephews with whom she shared special connections; and her
beloved dog and cat, Bailey and Inkers.
Although we’re heartbroken by this loss, we are comforted by the thought that she has now been reunited
with the love of her life, her late husband, Michael Tierney. She was a woman of great strength, who fiercely
faced the many hardships that life threw at her. She had a passion for quilting and, after retiring, joined a
quilting group with her sister Melanie where she made five incredible and loving new friends. They enjoyed
their weekly “therapy” sessions together. Along with these friends, she also leaves behind her life-long best
friend Luette Hanson, with whom she has shared a multitude of fun times and memories. Luette is like family
and has been there for all of Diane’s and her children’s greatest milestones.
Diane spent a lot of her time with Jeffrey, Nick and close friends Karie, Derek, Alexis, April and Carmine with
whom she enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, like going to dinner and traveling. If you knew Diane, you
knew her great love of and obsession with kangaroos. Please see below for the link to donate to these
beautiful creatures on her behalf.
Diane had two beautiful granddaughters, Amanda and Alexa, whom she adored and would do anything for.
She and Michael, known as Gui and Ba, were a huge part of their upbringing and were amazing and caring
grandparents, always trying to steal them away from their parents as much as possible. Diane was known to
her granddaughters as the ultimate mac-n-cheese maker and a caramel candy hoarder. She always knew
how to make Amanda and Alexa feel loved, appreciated, and never failed to let them know how proud she
was of them.
We will miss you beyond words, Diane.
In honor of her wishes, no services will be held; there will be a private Celebration of Life gathering for
family. In lieu of flowers, please see the links below to make a donation to a cause close to Diane’s heart.
