Dolores Ann (Maurice) Naples, 93, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026, at The
Hospital of Central Connecticut, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on October
28, 1932, in New Britain, she was the beloved daughter of John and Florence
(Faulkner) Maurice.
Dolores married the love of her life, Ralph Charles Naples, on August 4, 1951. Their
marriage was a beautiful partnership filled with love, laughter, and devotion that lasted
61 years until Ralph’s passing in 2012. Together, they made their home in New Britain
before settling in Kensington more than 66 years ago.
Dolores worked at New Britain General Hospital and often fondly shared that she had
been part of the hospital community more than 72 years ago—a memory she carried
with great pride. She later worked as a teller at New Britain National Bank.
She found joy in life’s simple and beautiful moments. Dolores loved the beach,
especially Miami Beach in Old Lyme, where the family spent summers, and Newport,
Rhode Island, which she and Ralph visited faithfully for more than 35 years. An amateur
photographer, she delighted in capturing nature’s beauty, particularly butterflies. In
recent years, she discovered a new joy in birdwatching from her front window. Dolores
and Ralph also shared a love of travel and were avid theatergoers, making many
cherished trips to Broadway together.
Above all else, Dolores was devoted to her family. She was a loving wife, mother,
daughter, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. She took special pride in
her daughter and grandchildren, having played an active role in raising them, and her
love and guidance will be felt for generations.
In addition to her parents and husband, Dolores was predeceased by her brothers John
Jr. and Timothy Maurice, her sister Gertrude (Maurice) Gaudio, and several brothers-
and sisters-in-law.
She is survived by her daughter, Dawn (Naples) Chagnon, and her husband, Raymond;
her grandchildren, Michael Brown and his wife Alyssa (Peck), Alyssa Brown and her
significant other Anthony Acampora, Alexandra Brown and her fiancé Joseph Cardoso,
and Ryan Brown; and her cherished great-grandson, Lachlan Charles Brown. She is
also survived by her sister, Joan (Maurice) Bruni, and her sisters-in-law Evelyn Naples
and Sylvia (Fioravanti) Naples, with whom she shared a home and who were
affectionately known as the “Golden Girls.” Dolores also leaves behind many beloved
nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 19, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s
Church, 485 Alling Street, Kensington, Connecticut. Burial will be at the convenience of
the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Dolores’ memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s
Research Hospital by visiting www.stjude.org.
Special thanks to Luddy & Peterson Funeral Home and Crematory for their guidance
and compassion and the Hospice unit at The Hospital of Central CT, they are angels on
earth.
