It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Dona Blazuk, 81, of New Britain, CT on Friday, April 26. She leaves her beloved partner of 40 years, Fidel Del Rosario. Dona leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her two children, her daughter Cheryl (Shari) Jones and her son Steven Blazuk and her daughter in law, April Blazuk. Her grandchildren meant the world to her: Lauren Jones, Aidan Jones and Steven Blazuk(Jr).
Dona was an independent and strong woman that was feisty until the end of her life. Dona was born and raised in New Britain and lived there most of her life. She enjoyed working with people with her many careers including being hair stylist at Mr.Gene’s, and later in life as a concierge at the Holiday Inn, Hartford CT where she met her partner of 40 years. Traveling was Dona’s joy with her partner Fidel, she went many places from Costa Rica to India, and from Mexico to Italy. Crocheting blankets for her family and friends filled her with joy and was a passion for her. Dona never met a dog she did not like, she loved feeding the birds and squirrels and took a special interest taking care of feral cats in the neighborhood. She loved her dogs, Koji, Reggie, Bocelli, Sparkey, Mozzeralla (aka Mozart), and lastly Paolo. She enjoyed having a fenced in yard where her and her neighbors would bring their dogs to run around and play.
Lastly, in our mother’s honor, she always loved to say “I told you so” and “You are fresh”. We will cherish those comments because she always cared about the people she loved and she always put others ahead of herself. We will continue to keep her spirit alive and cherish the memories.
