Elaine Fleming Walowski, 81, of Waterford, CT, and formerly of Berlin, CT, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 22, 2023.
Elaine was born December 20, 1941, in New Britain, CT, the daughter of the late Henry V. Fleming and Alice (Donlon) Fleming. She was predeceased by the love of her life, Stanley (Butch) Walowski, and her Grandson Shaun Fleming Walowski.
Elaine graduated from Berlin High School in 1959 and pursued her education at New Britain General Hospital School of Nursing. Her career flourished as she dedicated 22 years as an OB/GYN Medical Assistant and Supervisor at Grove Hill Medical Center. In 2003, she embarked on retirement, alongside her husband, relocating to Waterford, CT to finally embrace their lifelong dream of a beachside retirement.
Elaine also leaves her children, Steven and Kelly Walowski of Southington, CT., MaryAlice and George Landry of New Britain, CT., Scott and Sarah Walowski of Berlin, CT, and Seth and Alyssia Walowski of Bethany, CT.
Elaine is survived by her cherished 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. They are Alyssa Landry of Middletown, CT; Paige Landry of Rocky Hill, CT; Andrew and Kylan Walowski of Dover, NH; Desmond Burns of Bethany, CT; Albert Landry of Denver, CO; Shane Walowski of Berlin, CT; Hannah Walowski of Berlin, CT; Sam Walowski of Berlin, CT; Matthew Walowski of Berlin, CT; Abraham (AJ) Abrams of Bethany, CT; and Clara Saige Walowski of Berlin, CT; Asher Burns of Milford, CT (great-grandson).
She dedicated herself as a devoted friend to many throughout her lifetime, and maintained an enduring connection to Berlin Congregational Church. From her childhood attendance at the church, to later becoming a Sunday School Teacher, participating in the Bell Choir, and contributing to the BCC Choir, she exemplified unwavering commitment. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond friendships to her role as a mother, guiding three Eagle Scouts and leading as a Scout Den leader. Additionally, she actively engaged in various community roles, such as serving as a Campfire and BlueBird Leader, presiding as the Willard School PTA President, contributing as a member of the Junior Women's Club, and supporting the Berlin Fire Department Women's Auxiliary.
A service will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2023, 11:00am, at Berlin Congregational Church, 878 Worthington Ridge., Berlin, CT.
Burial will be private.
