After a long, vibrant, and abundant life, Elizabeth (Betty) Fleischman passed away peacefully on
January 20th, 2025, at the age of 92, although she would dispute this number if she had a
chance.
Betty was born on January 5, 1933, in Tarrytown, New York, to the late James Brady and Anna
Wilmoth. She is survived by her two daughters, Daria Sherman and Deborah Deck, who lovingly
helped her navigate her final years and journey into Alzheimer's. While Betty’s short-term
memory floated off one day, her personality never abandoned her. She remained sharp-witted
and captivating until the very end.
Betty grew up in a big Irish family. She was predeceased by her husband Sidney Fleischman,
who she cherished and celebrated life with, and her two sisters Anne (Brady) Dilella and June
(Brady) Tonge’. She is survived by her two brothers, James (Dale) Brady of Lyons, NY, and John
(Connie) Brady of Sedona, AZ. Betty is also survived by her two granddaughters, Hannah and
Kaitlyn Sherman and her two adored great-grandsons, Otis and Henry Sherman, and her former
son-in-law, Howard Sherman.
Betty had a deep-rooted love for beautiful objects and the elements of space and scale in
design. She owned an antique store in Lenox, Massachusetts, for many years and was a
talented interior designer who traveled as far as Kyoto, Japan, to oversee design projects. She
was also an avid gardener and a beloved friend to many. Betty spent many years building
community with family and friends in Lenox, Massachusetts, Southampton, New York, and West
Palm Beach, Florida. She inspired everyone around her to seek and savor the beauty and
pleasures that can so often get overlooked in the frenzy of our days.
