Ellen Sue Gottfried, 67, passed away on November 4, 2024, in Hartford, CT. Born on September 5,1957, Ellen graduated from Harrison High School in Harrison, New York, in 1975 and furthered her education at the University of North Carolina - Greensboro, where she pursued her passion for music. Ellen's career spanned various administrative roles at multiple companies in southern Connecticut and Westchester County, culminating in a fulfilling position at Temple Beth El in Stamford, CT. Her Jewish faith was always a source of strength for her and she enjoyed attending services when she could and lighting the Shabbat candles. Known for her fun and outgoing personality, Ellen brought joy and laughter to all who knew her. She had a lifelong love for music, enjoyed playing the piano, singing and dancing. In the warmer months, Ellen enjoyed walking, going to the beach and being out on the water with friends. She also enjoyed tending to her houseplants, playing games and doing jigsaw puzzles. Ellen is survived by her three siblings, Leslie Russell, Donald Gottfried, and Gloria Morison. She had four nieces and one nephew who always enjoyed having Aunt Ellen around. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sally and Larry Gottfried. In remembrance, the family will hold a private service at her favorite Norwalk beach.
