Emma Sacherek Berloni, longtime resident of New Britain, passed away on May 7, 2026. She had reached the incredible age of 103.
Born in Manchester, CT on April 19, 1923, she was the daughter of Michael and Katherine (Fedor) Sacherek. The last surviving of eight children, she cherished special relationships with each of her siblings: Michael Sacherek, Katherine Baronousky, William Sacherek, Ann Robb, Wilma Tonski, Margaret Galumboski and George Sacherek. Emma was a long time employee of Traveler’s Insurance Company in Hartford. In 1952, she married James (Gino) Berloni, and they made their home in New Britain. Emma stayed in her home after Gino’s passing in 1995 and lived there independently until she was 102.
Emma is survived by several beloved nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, and special friends. She never forgot a birthday or holiday, sending cards and making phone calls for each and every one.
Everyone should learn from Emma the art of living and aging with courage, determination and strength. She enjoyed company, traveling (she knew every road in New England, New York, and Quebec–taking great pleasure in “pre-announcing” the GPS), and good food. She began and ended each day with prayers for her and her loved ones’ health and well-being.
She was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
Calling hours will be Thursday, May 14 from 3-5pm at Luddy & Peterson’s Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, New Britain, CT. Burial will be private.
