Evelyn Marie Scalaro

Norwich -- Evelyn Marie Scalaro peacefully entered into eternal rest at home on January 22, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. 

Born in Dayville, CT on January 30, 1928, to Alfred and Alma Cormier Thibeault, she was raised by Armidas and Anna Cure of Taftville, CT.  In 1948 she married Charles Richard Scalaro in Norwich, CT, where they later raised their six children together.  Evelyn was blessed with a caring nature, and she not only tirelessly nurtured her own extended family, but the clients she devoted herself to as a home health aid for many years.  She was passionate about polka music, camping, cooking and entertaining, and she was always the life of every party.  Evelyn was a joyful soul who was happiest when laughing with friends and family, and her mischievous sense of humor kept them all on their toes.

Evelyn was predeceased by her beloved husband, Charlie, in 1989, her grandson Jeffrey, her sisters Beatrice Stearns and Doris Murtha, and her brother Richard Cure.  She leaves behind her children: Charles and Victoria Scalaro of Niantic, Ann and Nathaniel Green of Springfield, MA, John Scalaro of Norwich, Jeffrey and Lynn Scalaro of Norwich, Peter and Barbara Scalaro of Mystic, and Sandy and David Hebert of Ormond Beach, FL; and her grandchildren: Amy Fonyi, Christopher and Jason Scalaro, Monica and Johnathan Hebert, Katherine Scalaro, Nathaniel Green, and Cara Piacenza.  She also leaves behind 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Evelyn will be sadly missed for the seemingly endless well of love she shared, and for the gentle, caring voice her family and friends heard whenever they called her, day or night.

Burial will be private. Funeral services have been entrusted to Luddy-Peterson funeral home located at 205 South Main Street in New Britain.  Donations in her memory may be made to Mesothelioma Research Foundation of America or to Hartford Healthcare at Home Hospice Care.
