Fred R. Lesniewski passed away on July 8, 2025, at the age of 74. A long-time resident of Plainville, CT, he died at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain with his family and close friends beside him.
Lesniewski was born on January 14, 1951, in Hartford. He was the son of Fred Lesniewski and Doris (Nichols) Lesniewski, and grew up in Southington with his parents and siblings Karen, Candice, Greg, and Cheryl. He attended Central Connecticut State University, but then spent four years with the Navy. He wore his cap proudly as he served aboard the USS Patrick Henry, where he developed his trade skills. Afterwards, he went to school to become an HVAC technician and spent decades providing relief to people who needed cool air and warmth.
While working at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, he met Cheryl (LaCondrata) Lesniewski, his wife of forty-seven years. They were married on July 14, 1979, but always referred to his wife as “his bride,” and made sure to say “yes, dear.” The couple purchased their home in Plainville and had two wonderful sons, Michael and Marc. He loved animals and always made sure to have a cat on his lap while watching his favorite television shows. Lesniewski was a member of St. Andrews Church in New Britain, where he served on the finance committee and the church council. He was always willing to lend a helping hand at his church, and frequently volunteered at various church functions with his wife.
He loved to read Tom Clancy and Louie L’Amour novels, and always began his mornings with the daily newspaper. He also belonged to the Falcons Club, collected cookbooks, antique cast-iron frying pans, wooden hand planes, and woodworking tools. Fred was also a big fan of the UConn girls basketball team, A raiders and the Boston Celtics He regularly volunteered to help out with his sons’ Boy Scouts troop and was always eager to cook and grill food for his family and friends, especially during his family’s big Fourth of July picnic and Christmas Eve dinner. In his younger days, he enjoyed water skiing, playing softball and basketball, and riding his motorcycle.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl; his son, Michael; and his daughter-in-law, Jen Lesniewski, and her son, Zach, in Fitchburg, Massachusetts; and his son, Marc Lesniewski, in Southington, Connecticut. He also leaves behind his sisters Candice Zychowski (David) Cheryl Jolsin, his brother Greg (Pam) Lesniewski, his “Sunday buddy” and our friend Kevin Wilbur close friends, Lou and Dave, many nieces and nephews, sister- in -law Sue Cremasco, and his sons’s friends who he loved dearly. He is predeceased by his parents and his sister Karen Carr.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Luddy-Peterson Funeral and Crematory will handle other information. His family is extremely grateful to the doctors and nurses who assisted Fred at Central Care Hospital.
