Garnett Spray

On Friday, February 17, 2023, Garnett Samuel Spray, loving husband and father, passed away at the age
of 67. Born on July 4 th , 1955 to James and Florence Spray, Garnett joined the U.S. Navy after graduating
high school during the Vietnam war serving on the USS Cone. After the Navy, he devoted himself to
caring for his dear brother Douglas who was rendered disabled due to an accident at an early age. He
also worked for several years as a Quality Control Specialist in the Plastics Industry. Garnett met his wife
Diana in 2004 when they bonded over their love of the water, boating and the great outdoors. They
were together for nearly 20 years.
Garnett had a love of fishing and cooking. He was a master fisherman and won many awards and
contests, travelling throughout New England for ice, sea and freshwater fishing. He enjoyed cooking for
others and his holiday feasts were unforgettable .
Garnett had a big heart and a bigger personality. One of his joys in life was attending his son Richard’s
high school and college cross country meets, joking and laughing with the young men on the team. He
remained life long friends with many of them. He also loved his dogs, Olive and Daisy.
Garnett is best known for his humor, candor, generosity and caring. He is survived by his wife, Diana
Hansen, his step children, Haley Stoliker and Richard Stoliker, his brother James Spray, Jr, his sister
Nancy Kross, nephew Peter Kross and niece Candice Kross Cody. He is pre deceased by his brother,
Douglas Spray.
A memorial service will be held at Huntington Congregational Church on Church Street in Shelton, CT
followed by a reception at the home on Ripton Road on Saturday February 25th 2023 . Email
