Genovaite Snabaitis, 89, of Waterbury, CT, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2025. She was born on April 2, 1936, in Lithuania and immigrated to the United States at the age of 15 in search of a better life. Through hard work, perseverance, and strength, she built her life from the ground up.
Genovaite devoted 47 years of service as a waitress at the Howard Johnson Restaurant in Waterbury. Her unwavering work ethic enabled her to raise six children as a single parent, always putting her family first.
Outside of work, Gene found great joy and pride in her yard and gardens. Above all else, she will be remembered as one of the most honest and kindhearted souls anyone could meet. Her generosity, strength, and unwavering spirit touched all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Murray, and her husband, Rocky, of Clarksburg, WV; her daughter and devoted caregiver, Patty Snabaitis, and her significant other, Jason Potter, of Moodus, CT; and her son, John Snabaitis, and his wife, Sandy, of Woodbury, CT. She also leaves behind four loving grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Genovaite was predeceased by her son, Anthony Snabaitis, and her daughters, Wanda Snabaitis and Theresa San Angelo.
A service will be held in late spring, with the date to be announced.
