Gwendolyn (Gwen) Macon-Walters passed peacefully at Yale-New Haven Hospital on January 15, 2022, her sisters by her side.
On May 14, 1964, Gwen was born in Hartford, CT, to James and Rose Macon. She graduated from Enrico Fermi High School in 1982. Gwen loved singing, acting, and performing with Fermi Lamplighters/Choir and the Enfield Choir. She loved all kinds of music and played the piano. She loved to travel/visit museums and was an avid reader.
She was employed at American Airlines and Lia Honda. Gwen relocated to Springfield, MA, Atlanta, GA, and Stockton, CA, before settling in Seattle, WA, where she met and married her husband, Todd Walters. Gwen captured him with her style, grace, and a first kiss. Their love was profound and tangible, that once-in-a-lifetime love. In 2019, Todd, Gwen, and their beloved fur baby Gibbs relocated to Branford, CT.
She is survived by her sisters Jannett (Tyrone) Williams and Barbara Jean Macon. She was the second Mom to her nieces and nephews, Jason Williams, Chanel Williams (Edwin Baptiste), Nigel Macon Wilson, Rob (Krystalyn), Leffler-Macon, and Olivia Macon-Wells. Great-nephews, Carter and Chase Baptiste, Joseph and Levi Leffler-Macon. Her Aunt and Uncle Michael and Karen Walters, cousins Rick and Rob Walters, and a host of family and friends will cherish her memory.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Luddy – Peterson Funeral Home, 205 S. Main Street, New Britain, CT. 06051. Gwen requested a celebration of life be held in her honor instead of a traditional funeral service. We invite all of Gwen’s family and friends to join us in celebrating her beautiful life on May 8, 2022. Location and time will be published once confirmed.
The family would like to thank the caregivers and staff at Yale-New Haven hospital for their care and dedication to Gwen.
