Helga Dumond Obituary

Helga Dumond, 78 of Bristol and formerly of Southington passed away peacefully with her family by her side at The Pines of Bristol on April 20, 2023. 

Helga was born on August 14, 1944, in Neu-Ulm, Germany, she was predeceased by her father Walter Weidmann, Mother Hilde Merkle, stepfather Werner Merkle, Ex-husband Clarence Dumond and a son who passed shortly after birth November 22, 1972.  

She attended school in Germany for 8 years, she then furthered her education for another 3 years in floral design. At 17 years old she started working in her profession as a florist. She loved working with flowers her whole life. She met her husband in Germany while he was stationed there. They married and moved to the United States. They had 3 children together. In April 1976 her greatest pride was becoming a US citizen.  She was a dedicated and loyal employee for many years for Fazzone’s Nursery and then Dietrich Gardens until she retired. Helga enjoyed her life to the fullest while being a girl scout leader, going to casinos and traveling with family. Helga loved animals, crafting, flea markets, but most of all she loved spending time in her flower gardens. 

She is survived by her daughters Barbara and husband Albert Bouchard of Southington, Sandy and husband Mark Michaud of Bristol. Grandkids Tyler and wife Mary Bouchard of Southington, Justin Bouchard of Southington, Chelsea Michaud of Wolcott, Mark Michaud Jr. of Bristol. Her great grandkids Travis, Addie and Allie Bouchard of Southington. Logan DuRos of West Springfield, MA. Survived by her brother Manfred and his wife Gertrud Merkle of Germany, Her sisters Waltraud and her Husband Uli Weiland of Germany, Claudia and her husband Gerhard Hitzler of Germany. She is also survived by her Aunt Anni Hubel of Germany who played a very big role in Helga’s life in her younger years, has taken over the roles of her big sister as well as a mother substitute. Her cousins Monika Brosa, Yvonne Vogel, Dominic Brosa of Germany. Her Nieces Heike Merkle, Daniela Riedl, Katja Merkle, Andrea Nitsche and Christina Weggenmann, a nephew Michael Wieland all of Germany. Surviving total of 10 grandnieces/nephews.  

A celebration of life will be at the convenience of the family.
