Henry Cyr, Jr., 81 of New Britain, passed away Saturday, August 18, 2018 with his family by his side. Born in Keegan, Maine to the late Henry and Winnie (Thibodeau) Cyr. Henry moved to New Britain when he was in his teens and started working at Stanley Works, where he met the love of his life, Lucy (Canata) Cyr, they were married just over 60 years.
Henry is survived by his loving wife, Lucy; his son Donald Cyr of New Britain, CT; his daughters Susan Griffin and her husband Tom of North Carolina, and Sandy Douglas and her husband Stephen of Maine; his granddaughters Jennifer Hutchins, Heather Howard, and Tonya Philpot; his grandsons Kenney Hutchins and Christopher Hleva; his great-grandchildren Ashley, Brittany, Samantha, Nova, Jacob, Isabelle, Jocelyn, Madeline, Lydia, Olivia and Jack; a sister Cecile Lessard of Massachusetts; nieces Diane, Jeannine, Josey and Wendy; and many cousins and close friends. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Woofie, who misses him dearly.
In life, Henry loved camping. He had a spot in Goose Green, Vermont where loved to be. He loved the scenery year-round, but he enjoyed winter, as he liked to go snowmobiling. When he wasn’t in Vermont, he was home, usually in his workshop building something or working on old cars. After retiring from Stanley Works in his 60’s, he continued to work around cars, finding a position at Papa’s Dodge in New Britain. Henry enjoyed the holidays and took pleasure in decorating his house for Christmas every year.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Luddy-Peterson Funeral Home, 205 S., Main St., New Britain on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 from 4 to7 PM. Memorial donations may be made to: http://www.cthumane.org/.
