It is with deep love and sadness that the family of Jason E. “Jake” Morton Jr. announces his passing on July 6, 2026, at the age of 86.

Born in Pittsfield, Maine, on May 24, 1940, Jake was the son of the late Jason E. Morton and Melba McDonald Morton. He lived a life defined by faith, family, service, and friendship.

Jake proudly answered his country’s call by serving four years in the United States Navy aboard the USS Little Rock. His travels during military service broadened his perspective and reflected the adventurous spirit that would remain with him throughout his life.

Professionally, Jake dedicated more than 30 years to Connecticut Light and Power as a respected service technician. His reputation for honesty, skill, and reliability earned him the admiration of all.

A lifelong man of faith, Jake and his family were devoted members of the Parish of Saints Peter and Paul in Waterbury, Connecticut. His Catholic faith remained a guiding force throughout his life.

Jake was blessed to enjoy more than three decades of retirement with his beloved wife of 65 years, Josephine “Jo Jo” Petruzzi Morton. Together they traveled extensively across the country and made homes in Otis, Massachusetts, and Webster, Florida, where they built lasting friendships and became cherished members of both close-knit communities. Nothing brought Jake more contentment than sitting by a campfire or taking a ride with Jo Jo on his motorcycle.

Jake is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Josephine; his daughters, Melissa Joy Garland (Peter) and Karen Ricciardi (Tony); his daughter-in-law, Gina Morton; his beautiful grandchildren and spouses, Robert Albino Jr. (Hilarri), Alexa Albino, Rebecca Ricciardi (Frank), Jessica Norton (Rob), and Jason Morton IV (Rhiannon); his great-grandchildren, Marceline Morton and Isabella Albino; and his nieces and nephews, who will remember him with great love and affection.

He was predeceased by his beloved son, Jason E. Morton III, with whom he is now reunited in eternal peace.

Jake’s greatest legacy is the family he loved so deeply, the friendships he nurtured, and the example of kindness, faith, and dedication that he leaves behind. His memory will continue to bring comfort and inspiration to all who knew and loved him. May Jake now rest in the eternal peace of Christ.

In keeping with Jake’s wishes, funeral services will be private.
