With much love and sadness, the family of Fire Inspector Jeffrey King shares that Jeffrey crossed over on April 17th, 2021. Fondly referred to as "Jeff King," Jeffrey was a loved and respected member of the Mashantucket Pequot Fire Fighters Union, Local 4746, IAFF, and a past member of the Subbase Fire Department, Local F-219.
Jeffrey lovingly served and protected those both near and far. He aided our Country and our Community for over 30 years as Fire Inspector/Marshall for the MPTN Emergency Services and for the Groton New London Subbase. He served with the subbase as a Fire Fighter, graduated from the CT State Police Academy, and served Groton/New London SUBASE police department as an officer and federal investigator. Jeff was proud to be a US Army Veteran as a former member of the A-4th & 8th Infantry-Delta Dawgs.
With his wife, Lisa, Jeff loved the ocean, waterfalls, and being active outside. He was an avid motorcyclist, bicyclist, sailor, and hiker. He was most at home near the water, a place he connected with God. He enjoyed finding small Mexican Restaurants while out on his Gold Wing motorcycle. Jeff held a solid spiritual belief in God, the one true source was the guiding spirit that allowed him to have such a loving and giving heart. Jeff and Lisa could often be found following the Moon and astrological events. It is entirely fitting that Jeff crossed over during the week of the Lyrid meteor showers.
Numerous Friends and coworkers have sent remembrances of Jeff including:
"He was a large personality with an enormous heart."
"He was not only a great mentor, but a dear friend."
"He was one coolest and nicest guys to be around. We had some good times and great laughs on calls."
"I am thankful I knew him he was a good man he will be missed."
"He is not only a good man but a GREAT Man. I love him like a brother."
"This world needs more people like him… He was always positive, caring for everyone. He loved his wife more than anything else, and she made his world turn. I was blessed to have known him and loved him. He made a difference in my life and the lives of others."
"He was such an incredible person. I know he loved Lisa more than life itself, and she felt the same way about him."
"Jeff loved his wife, sons, and grandchildren. They were his soul purpose in life."
Jeffrey is survived by his wife, Lisa D King, their two sons Corey DuBose and Matthew DuBose, Corey’s fiancé Shalaya Speight, grandchildren Trenton and Faith, Mother Wanda (Scotty) Baker, father-in-law Alton Rector, brother Philip King and wife Geneva, two sisters Sandy Servidio and husband Ken, Robin Hunter and husband Tom, three nieces and one nephew, his loved companion Padow's Madison at Cincere (Madison) other family, and beloved friends. Jeffrey was preceded by his loving father Robert C King, and Mother-in-law Dodie Rector.
It has been said, we should not waste our time on making a living, but spend our time living. Jeff gave us a lifetime of living, and he lived life to the fullest!
Lisa, Corey, and Matthew would like to express love and gratitude to all here and beyond for the support! Please reflect on the collateral beauty we have all received for having known Jeff.
A celebration of life is scheduled for May 5 at the MPTN Fire & Emergency Services located at 101 Pequot Trail, Mashantucket, CT 06338.
