Jerry Rosaire Michaud of New Britain, Connecticut, passed away on Sunday, the 14th of January, 2024, not long after his 70th birthday.
Born in Biddeford, Maine, he is the son of Gerard R. Michaud and Adrienne Letourneau Michaud.
As a young child, Jerry moved with his family to New Britain, CT, where his father found work with Stanley Works, a company which almost all of the immediate family, including Jerry himself, worked for at some point.
Jerry attended New Britain High School where he ran track and field. Later, he went to school for electronics and was employed for many years as a service technician repairing various types of machinery from arcade games to supermarket scales and slicers to bank ATMs.
Jerry shared many good years with his longtime partner, Charlene Maguder Canning, with whom he shares a daughter. As a family, they enjoyed trips to Chatfield Hollow and Mount Tom state parks, gatherings with family and friends, game nights at home, TV and movies, vegetable gardening, and lots of cooking and eating.
Jerry was a great lover of music, in particular, 1950’s-60’s doo-wop and Rock and Roll. He was in a band called WGAF, and later, alongside one of his best friends, the late Richie “Ruby” Rybczynski, was a founding member of the original “Sharades” band. The memories Jerry made singing and playing guitar in these bands with some of his dearest friends, and later assisting the Sharades with sound control, are memories that he held very close to his heart cherished for the rest of his life.
He had a beautiful voice, and karaoke was a favorite pastime. He would go often and sing with his daughter and many good friends.
Jerry also loved football. His favorite teams were the Washington Redskins and Green Bay Packers.
Jerry was the kind of man who would do most anything to help his family and friends. He truly would have given anyone in need the shirt off his back. He was compassionate, smart, and genuine, and loved to laugh and joke around with everyone he met. He always knew how to put a smile on someone’s face. The gentle energy he brought to others was something magical. He is loved and will be missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He is survived by his daughter, Jessica Rose (Selena) Michaud, his sister, Elaine Michaud, his brother-in-law, Jose Cruz, his nieces and nephews-in-law, Paula and Adam Pastuszak, Kim Burrow, and Julie and Richard Selby, his great-niece and great-nephew-in-law, Kayla and Jesse Petrone, his great-nieces Emily Pastuszac, Mariah Burrow, Hailey Selby, and Savannah Selby, his great-nephew, Devin Burrow, his great-great-nieces and nephews, Vayda, Lukas, Luna, and Vinny, and his beloved cat, Mia, who was always right by his side.
He is predeceased by his sister, Nancy Cruz, and his parents Gerard and Adrienne Michaud.
Family and Friends are invited to calling hours on Saturday, January 27th, 2024 from 10am to noon at Luddy-Peterson Funeral Home at 205 South Main Street in New Britain, CT.
