JoAnne V. Picard, 78, of 184 Roberts St., Torrington, passed away suddenly Feb. 7, 2021, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. Her loving husband of 49 years, Roland A. Picard, was by her side.
JoAnne was born on Oct. 13, 1942 in Bristol, the daughter of the late William and Helen Villa. She grew up there and graduated from Bristol Eastern High School in 1960. Shortly after graduation she was employed by Travelers Insurance in Hartford until her love of ceramics called to her to open her own successful business, J and R Ceramics, that she ran for more than 30 years. During her life JoAnne was also employed by Ames Department Store, in Barkhamsted, and by Agway and CVS Pharmacy in Torrington, where she loved helping and interacting with all the customers on a daily basis. JoAnne will forever be remembered for her kind heart and beautiful smile
In addition to her husband, Roland, she is survived by her step-daughter, Heidi Picard-Ramsay, son-in-law Timothy Ramsay; and her two grandchildren, Ashlyn and Bryce Ramsay. She is also survived by her two faithful Shih Tzu companions, Cricket and Bernard.
She was predeceased by her sister, Susan Villa.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
