John Lynn Bytell, 69, of Milford, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2022, surrounded by family.
Born on July 3, 1952 in San Antonio, TX, he was the son of John Walter Bytell and Sarah Cole Bytell, and spent precious summers with his Uncle Bill and Aunt Aileen Felts, fishing on Lake LBJ.
John lived a full life, travelling between Texas, California and Colorado, before making his way to Connecticut and meeting his wife of 41 years, Diana Bytell. John was a lover of music, from his time playing drums in the National Champion Capital Cadets Baton and Drum Corps in Sacramento, to seeing some of the greatest live bands of the ‘60s and ‘70s.
John spent his later years as a Technical Specialist in the aerospace industry, while enjoying life on Lake Plymouth, in Plymouth, CT, raising his children and fishing with his beloved dog, Kramer. Since retiring and moving to Milford, he liked sitting by Walnut Beach with his Dunkin’ Donuts, people-watching and listening the sound of the waves.
John was a “grateful dad” to his three children, Justin Bytell, Shawn Bytell and Amy Bytell, and proud grandfather to his new grandson, Connor Monroe. He is also survived by his cousin Gene Harkey, and his brother Jody Bailey, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will be invited to a celebration of John’s life, to be announced at a later date.
