John DePalmer Obituary

John R. DePalmer Sr., 83, the beloved husband of Margaret E. DePalmer for 64 years, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 10 at his home, surrounded by his family.

He was born on April 20 th , 1937 in Bridgeport, the son of the late Patsy and Mary DePalmer. John worked as a Warehouse Manager at Town Fair Tire for 37 years until his retirement in 2002 where he remained still today, a part of the Town Fair Tire family. He attended many of their employee functions long after his retirement. His name; John DePalmer, was synonymous with Town Fair Tire.

John loved life but more than that, he loved his family. He was a man that put everything before himself, especially his family.  Throughout his retirement, he and his wife loved to travel.  He spent quality time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, always involving himself in their sports and other activities. He loved dancing and making jokes about the simplest things, always making you smile, even when you faced struggles in your own life. He made life fun.  Good food and desserts were high on his list of enjoyment, topping that with a strong, Amaretto Sour. Playing cards and cribbage were very relaxing to him but his biggest enjoyment was teaching his great grandchildren how to play cards with him.  He is a man who loved deep and was a great example for the generations to follow when teaching us how to love as hard.

John is survived by his wife, Margaret E. DePalmer (Boyhan) Of Oxford CT, and his two sons, John R. DePalmer Jr of Reno, Nevada and Patsy DePalmer of Boynton Beach, Fl and his daughter, April Vournelis and her husband Ioannis of Naugatuck, CT; his grandchildren, John R. DePalmer III and his fiancé Kelley Garofalo of Oxford, CT, Nicole Fredericks and her husband Adam of Oxford, CT, Daniel DePalmer and his wife Jessica of Naugatuck, CT, and Dennis DePalmer of Stamford, CT; his great grandchildren, Hailee Fredericks, Cameron Fredericks, and Daniel DePalmer Jr.; his great grand dog Rocky; his brothers, Ralph DePalma and his wife Marie of Boynton Beach, Fl, James DePalmer and his wife Rose of Stratford, CT and sister, Dolores Siok of Bridgeport, CT. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many who he considered to be an extension of his own children.

He was predeceased by his parents, Patsy and Mary DePalmer, his brothers, Patsy DePalmer and Anthony DePalmer, and his sisters; Filomena Barba, Patrica Boyhan, and Mollie Grasso.

The family would like to say a warm, loving thank you to Marin Pozucek of Peaceful Passings and long-time friend of the family, Hartford Healthcare VNA and Hospice Services, and the nurses and doctors at Waterbury Hospital for taking exceptional care of our loved one.
