John Dobrzanski, 92, born September 15, 1930, died peacefully on Friday, 7/14/23.
He was the son of Carrol and Josephine (Marcinkowski) Dobrzanski. He was born in East Granby but lived in New Britain all his life. Married in 1954 to Anne (Malicki) Dobrzanski. He graduated from E.C. Goodwin Tech as a Residential & Industrial Electrician with Motor Rewind training. John was a Navy veteran in the submarine force stationed at New London, CT and Norfolk, VA during the Korean conflict. While at New London he set up the 1st motor rewind department on the base from scratch. On return from service he graduated Hartford University, Ward School of Electronic.
He retired from Edwards Co. in 1998 and worked at Emhart Corp as the Electronic Engineering Manager, at both companies. John was the designer of the residential 911 ionization smoke detector & Sears Burglar Systems while at Emhart Corp and Edwards Co. he designed the photo & ionization commercial smoke detectors. He holds 12 Patents in his name for these manufacturing companies.
John was a devoted member of St. Joseph Church where he was a 35-year church trustee & Past Chairman of many committees such as: Fund Raising, Raffle, Fun night, Social Action, Liturgical, and Parish Council Nominating committee, as well as the president of the Parish Council & Eucharistic Minister of Communion. He also received the St. Joseph metal for his services at the church.
He is predeceased by his parents, Carrol and Josephine, his wife Anne, and his sister Alice Pagliaurlo. He leaves his family, son Dr. David Dobrzanski, (Patricia Hinckley), daughter Lynn Dobrzanski, and son Dr. Mark Dobrzanski, (Nancy Dobrzanski). He leaves several nieces and nephews and his dog of 8 years.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at 8:30 for public viewing at Luddy-Peterson Funeral Home located at 205 South Main Street, New Britian, CT, 06051. Following will be a 10:30 Mass at St. Joseph Church located at 195 South Main Steet, New Britain, CT, 06051. Interment will follow immediately after Mass at Sacred Heart Cemetery located at 662 Burritt Street, New Britain, CT, 06053.
