John Romegialli Obituary

John Thomas “Jack” Romegialli, 81, beloved husband of Janis (Lawrence) Romegialli, went home to be with his Lord and Savior peacefully on Monday, March 9, 2026, at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown, Connecticut.

Jack was born in Middletown, Connecticut, on April 1, 1944. He was predeceased by his parents, Victor and Mary Romegialli; his sister, Phyllis Lautenbach; and his sister, Ann Marie Carrier. He is survived by his daughter, Kristin (Romegialli) Nielson, and her husband, Jeremy, of Rocky Hill, Connecticut; their three children, Caden, Bennett, and Avery; his sister Joyce Conklin of Middletown,
Connecticut; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved friends.

Jack had a profound love for his family, which lives on through the legacy he leaves behind. Jack treasured time spent with his family, which was always his greatest joy and priority. He especially
loved attending his grandchildren’s school events and sporting activities.

Jack was known throughout his life for his dedication and strong work ethic. After graduating from Berlin High School, he began a career in the electrical trade and eventually started his own company. After many successful years in business, he sold the company and transitioned into construction estimating. He later became a respected estimator for Gennerini Construction Company in Bridgeport, Connecticut, where he worked until his retirement in 2013.

In 1975, with the help of family and friends, Jack built a home for Janis in Higganum. Over the years, he meticulously cared for the property and enjoyed cutting firewood for the many fires he made in the family hearth room.

Jack also had a deep appreciation for the outdoors. Along with his love of country music and playing his guitar, he especially enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, skiing, and taking road trips.

Jack lived a full life marked by his faith and service to the Lord. While living in New Britain and attending Wethersfield Community Church, he volunteered in youth ministry. After moving to Higganum, he helped start Valley Bible Church in Haddam, Connecticut. He also volunteered for many years in the kitchen during the summers at Camp Spofford in Keene, New Hampshire.

All who cherished Jack are invited to attend a service celebrating his life at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Newington, Connecticut, on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. A private burial will be held later this spring.
