Josephine Kulak Obituary

Josephine Kulak,106, of New Britain died peacefully on September 6, 2024. Her commitment to family, loving spirit, humor, and the grace with which she approached life will be deeply missed.

Josephine was born in Meriden in 1918, the daughter of Joseph and Margaret (Cebula) Najduch. She attended Meriden schools and worked in manufacturing throughout her life, with the expressed purpose of putting her daughters through college so they could establish themselves in careers. Josephine had a passion for knitting; she was knitting hats for orphan children in the Ukraine well into her nineties; for this the priest at St Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church  dubbed her "the hands of an angel".

Josephine was predeceased by her husband Joseph Kulak; her brothers Walter and Stanley Najduch; and her sisters Stephanie Pulaski and Anna Gibney.  She is survived by her daughters Claudia and Debra, her sister Elizabeth Dudek, and Joyce Dygus who she lovingly referred to as her daughter number 3; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Josephine's daughters would like to extend their deepest gratitude to her loving caretaker Bonnie, and to the staff at HOCC for the thoughtful and comfortive care they provided in her final days.

A private funeral mass and Christian burial will be held at the convenience of the family.  There are no calling hours. Donations may be made in her memory to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation (AMDF). To leave on line condolences please visit
