Karol Oakes-Cassidy, 59, of Southington, Connecticut, passed peacefully
into eternal rest on May 14, 2025, comforted by the loving embrace of her
family after a long and valiant journey with early-onset dementia. Guided
throughout her life by her faith and her belief in the presence of angels,
Karol transitioned from this world to the next - a place free from pain and
suffering, where peace and light abide.
Karol was born in Bristol, Connecticut, and was raised in Forestville, where
the seeds of her spirited, adventurous soul were first sown. In time, she
made her home in Southington, where she would raise her cherished
daughters, with her husband Michael, to build a life grounded in love,
laughter, and purpose.
She is survived by her devoted mother, Allison Oakes; her beloved
daughters, Jade Allison and Skyler Gloria, whom she considered her life’s
greatest gifts; her nephews, Travis and Dylan Oakes and their families and
her dear cousin and confidant, Debra Czarneski; and many close friends
and “soul sisters” who were family in every sense of the word. Karol was
preceded in death by her loving husband, Michael Cassidy; her father,
Alton Oakes; her brother, Darryl Oakes; and her sister, Karen Oakes.
Karol wore many titles throughout her life—daughter, sister, wife, mother,
aunt, great-aunt, cousin and friend—but none with greater pride or devotion
than that of “Mom.” Her love for her daughters was unmatched, and she
poured her heart into raising them to be kind-hearted, non-judgmental, and
compassionate individuals. That legacy endures in every life they touch.
Professionally, Karol brought her strong work ethic and keen mind to the
Insurance and Mortgage industries and lastly at the State of Connecticut
comptroller’s office where she earned the respect of colleagues and clients
alike. But outside of work, she lived life with a rock-and-roll
spirit—passionate about music, motorcycles, and the great outdoors.
Camping trips under the stars, long drives to Maine, and laughter-filled
nights with family and friends remain among the treasured memories she
leaves with us.
Karol’s life was one of determination, joy, and unwavering faith. Even as
illness dimmed her physical light, her spirit continued to shine—resilient,
radiant, and resolute. Her courage inspired all who knew her, and her
memory will forever live in the hearts of those she loved.
A private celebration of Karol’s life will be held at a later date and at the
convenience of the family.
