Kathleen "Kay" M. (Sunbury) Bracken

Kathleen “Kay” Bracken, 81 of Plainville, CT. passed away during the early morning of Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at New Britain General Hospital.

She was born on November 11, 1939 in New Britain CT to Guy and Margaret Sunbury. 

She was known as a fighter and a pillar of strength to her family and friends, her nurturing and caring instincts made her the wonderful Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister and Friend that God intended her to be. She loved and valued her family and friends. She was a role model and mentor to all and left her mark on many who had the honor of experiencing her courage, words and wisdom. She was always willing to lend an ear or give advice to those in need. Kay took pride and can be remembered for her hard work and dedication at Northeast utilities, New Britain Candy and Meadowland Restaurant over the years where she was always a friendly, familiar face. 

She is survived by her sisters: Marguerite and Dorthy Sunbury; her children: Charleen Ewalt, Richard Bracken and their spouses David Ewalt and Adrianne Bracken. Her grandchildren: Chris Gogas, Dale Strang, George Gogas, Katerina Gogas, Alicia Napomoceno and Colleen Gogas. Her great-grandchildren: Brooke, Mason, Jackson, Anna Rose and newest addition, Dolores Rae.

She will be joining in the Heavens: her late husband and son Charles Bracken and Charles (Chuck) Bracken Jr. and her siblings Richard, Herbert, Raymond, Gue and Maureen Sunbury.

Kay will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. 

Respects can be paid to Kay and her family on Monday, December 21, 2020 from 5pm-8pm at Luddy-Peterson Funeral Home, 205 S. Main Street, New Britain, CT.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 10am at St. Joseph’s Church, 195 South Main Street, New Britain, CT. Social distancing will be observed and face coverings required. Burial will follow to St. Mary’s Cemetery, 544 Main St, New Britain, CT.
