Kenneth Spry Obituary

OXFORD — Kenneth Earl Spry, who was born in Bridgeport, found peace and joined the Heavenly Father on November 24, 2021. Ken is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Madeline; daughter, Brenda Marie Spry; son, Kenneth Earl Spry and his partner, Christine Louise Taylor; grandson, Andrew Kenneth Spry; granddaughter, Taya Rose Cardella; great-grandson, Luca Antinino Barbagallo, and the family pet, Jet. He is also survived by his brother, Raymond Spry and sister, Kathleen Howell, and many nieces and nephews. He is joined in Heaven by his mother, Marion Spry; brother, James Spry, and sister, Jean Olender. Ken had proudly served in the United States Navy as a boatswain’s mate from January 18, 1955, to January 14, 1959. He served on the USS Decatur (DD936) and the Valley Forge (CVS 45). He was a devoted and compassionate husband, father and Papa. He was a true family man and always put his wife and family first. He always had a calm way and was a true pillar of strength to his entire family. Ken could fix most anything and was affectionately called “our MacGyver.” He loved to laugh and joke and maybe pull a prank or two. Ken enjoyed Sunday dinners with the family, movie nights with his grandson, the outdoors, walking in the woods, fishing, hunting, working in his yard and garden. He enjoyed working with wood, finishes and paints. He enjoyed his coffee, Honey Nut Cheerios, omelets, potato pancakes (a specialty he made) and a good hot dog. Ken enjoyed following news and world affairs as well as westerns and the History Channel. Ken was loved and respected and will be greatly missed. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Luddy and Peterson Funeral Home at 205 South Main Street in New Britain, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Tin Can Sailors, P.O.
