Laurie Lynne Deaner

Collinsville — Laurie Lynne Deaner, 64, of Collinsville, Connecticut, passed away
peacefully on July 15, 2025, at UConn John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington,
surrounded by her loving family after a brief battle with cancer.

Laurie was born on June 20, 1961, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, to Doris Elizabeth (née
Hoffman) and Maurice Wellington Deaner.

She attended elementary schools and Trumbull High School in Trumbull, Connecticut.
She later earned certificates in Horticulture from Naugatuck Valley Community College
and in Therapeutic Recreation from Northwestern Connecticut Community College.

Laurie built a successful career in landscape design and maintenance through her
business, Laurie’s Gardening Service. She later served as a Therapeutic Recreation
Director at Summerville at Litchfield Hills in Torrington and The Retreat in Hartford.

Laurie will be remembered for her lively and passionate spirit-always the life of the party
and ready to play a game. She was devoted to her many hobbies, including bowling,
plants, and animals-especially cats.

Laurie is survived by her son, Mark Deaner; her sister, Michelle Melton, and her
husband, Ben; her niece, Deborah D’Cruze, and her husband, Neil; and her
grandnephew, Joshua D’Cruze. She is also survived by her beloved pets, Cency and
Abby. She was a loyal friend to many.

She was predeceased by her parents, Maurice and Doris Deaner.

A celebration of life will be held in the spring of 2026; details are to be announced.

The family is grateful to the doctors and nurses at UConn John Dempsey Hospital and
AccentCare of Farmington, who assisted with hospice care.
