Lea (Massey) Fitzgerald, 75, formally of Bristol and Collinsville CT, widow of William Fitzgerald passed away Sunday, January 10, 2021. Lea was born March 11, 1945 to Arthur and Gertrude (Aubin) Massey in Newport RI, moving to Bristol CT at the age of 4. She graduated from Bristol Eastern High School class of 1964, married her high school sweetheart and had 3 sons. Before retiring, Lea was an employee at CVS in New Britain. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her dedication and sacrifice to her loved ones. Her sprinklings of love will be missed.
Lea is survived by her three sons (and their spouses) John (Theresa) Fitzgerald of Montverde FL, Jeffrey (Angeline) Fitzgerald of Albuquerque NM and James (Tammy) Fitzgerald of Collinsville CT. Her 7 grandchildren, Keith, Melissa & Caitlyn, Ashley & Brian, Amanda & Joey. Her siblings (and their spouses) Lorraine (Bill) McKee, Steven (Kurt) Massey and Ronald (Susan) Massey. Sister-in-laws Kathleen Bonaccorso, Rita and Gina Fitzgerald and brother-in-law Thomas Fitzgerald, along with many special nieces, nephews and friends.
Besides her husband and Parents, Lea was predeceased by her brother, Rene Massey.
The family wishes to extend sincere gratitude to the staff at Simsbury Governors’ House for their love and dedication providing Lea’s care in her last stages of life battling Alzheimer’s and Covid-19. In Lea’s memory, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s research or Connecticut Hospice. No Services are immanent due to Covid-19 concerns. Luddy Funeral Home of New Britain is tending to the needs of the family.
