Obituary
Linda (Kandel) Matyseck died peacefully on February 11th after a short battle with esophageal cancer. She leaves behind her beloved and devoted husband of 50 years, Roy; her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Sandra Kandel; her daughter Amy and son-in-law Phil; and her two adoring grandsons, Isaac and Louis.
Linda was well loved in the Torrington community, touching many through her work at the Torrington Post Office, her enthusiastic support of local theater, and her joyful personality. From her steadfast friends of her youth in Westfield, MA, to her “surrogate children” whom she loved, to the hospice nurses who she amused at the end, Linda brought immense joy to all the lives that she touched.
Her selfless dedication and unbridled love always radiated in her most treasured roles as mother and grandmother. She was predeceased by her son, Adam Matyseck, who she continued to hold dear through her life. She was overjoyed to reconnect with her daughter Dana Phillips and be part of the lives of her grandchildren Reagan and Andrew. Memories of her love, humor, and affection will be carried on by her family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held by the family in the spring.
